ARTIST’S COMENTS: Canada was my choice to feature on my fence post art. After all, Canada is our neighbor. As a lifelong resident of Carrizozo (77 years) this art project caught my attention. As historian, photographer and journalist I felt choosing Canada was the "neighborly thing to do."
I knew that Canada's ten provinces and three territories extend from the Atlantic to the Pacific and northwest into the Arctic Ocean and northward into the Arctic Ocean. I learned that Canada's southern border with the U. S. is the world's longest bi-national land border.
Maple leaf, beaver, hockey, lacrosse and more........so many Canadian symbols to choose from. I decided that the leaf was my choice when it was time to design the fence post art.
