ARTIST’S COMENTS: I was born in Venezuela. My mother was from the USA and brought me to the USA at age 2, but I have since been able to visit the beautiful country of Venezuela. Seven white stars were added to the flag in 1836 which represent the seven provinces that supported Venezuela's independence in 1830. An eighth star, the "Bolívar Star," was added in 2006. The red in the flag represents courage and the blue represents Venezuela's independence from Spain.
